Hirsbrunner 1815 natural horn with E-flat bracket
Hirsbrunner was a Swiss company that mainly became known as a tuba builder. In the 18th and 19th centuries, however, the Hirsbrunner company from Sumiswald (Berner Oberland) made various wind instruments, including some natural horns. I know two of them. This one and the one in the Bern museum.
The instrument is beautifully made and plays very nicely. A piece of Swiss quality! The bore is more “Bohemian” than French. The E flat crook is original.
The horn plays well with a set of Jungwirth crooks (available as new second hand). Complete horn 7000 euro.
